A very special Valentine's day by Leha and Aditi

Today i learnt how love could transform someone to a great extent.
It was in the evening at around 5:15 or 5:30 when a rescue call was made to us the pup had gone into an area where there was coal.

Prasanna washing the pup
He was pulled out from it but the coal(tar) was stuck to him, the ppl who were attending to him at that point of time were no professionals and they put Kerosene to remove the tar which made matters a worse for the pup. But thanks to some local ppl we were able to bathe and remove parts of the tar.

We then took him to Dr Chariars Clinic where we again tried to remove the Tar stuck to the pup with the help of oil.

Now, the pup is a little better with less tar stuck to him. It felt good knowing that we helped save a life.
A Very Big Thank you to Dr Chariar and his team under whose care the Pup is & also to PAL Members- Aditi Nair, Hemant Thange, Prasanna Gupta & Me

FYI- We've decided to name the Pup Valentine...after all it was a Valentine's day rescue!

One more lesson to learn from this is the consequence of negligence of hygiene and proper disposal of waste.
Valentine tried to go into the waste warm tar because he was very hungry and did not have any food to eat. The road had been repaired with tar already and the workers instead of cleaning up the waste and disposing it off carefully, had just swept it to the side of the road.

Tar on the road side

The poor puppy got caught in it.

It is sad that we as a society see dogs pooping on the side walk as a crime, but do not bat an eyelid even when we see hot tar lying on the sidewalk.
Interestingly enough, the municipal authorities have put a fine of some amount on dogs pooping and the tmc and bmc people who sweep the ground make a huge fuss when they see pets defecating under a tree while they say nothing at all while sweeping away tons of plastic and no one has put up any fine on throwing garbage, especially non degradable plastic and TAR on the road! Talk about double standards.

Road side garbage is a common sight

If our pet poops, we should clean it!
We are not saying here that dogs should be allowed to defecate on places where people walk, ie footpath, the area under trees is normally alright as it acts as good manure for the plants as well and nobody these days tries to climb trees in complexes, so let alone step on shit. The owners who allow their pets to defecate on footpath should definitely be penalized as it is an unnecessary problem they are creating for everyone, one of hygiene and negligence.

We all hope u get well soon, Valentine and that someone takes hygiene seriously in the administration or else, we PAL might have to take it up as our second cause!!
